With your mouse, click and hold the position you want to move. Drag the position to the location in the structure you want to move it to (i.e. new reporting line).
A prompt appears requesting you to select three options:
Position only
Moves just the position object. All objects below (i.e. employees assigned to the position and any direct reports) will be shifted up one level (employee will become assigned to the manager position and direct reports will report to the manager above).
Position incl. employees assigned
Similar to ‘Position only’, but any employees assigned to the position will be moved with it. All positions reporting to it will be moved up one level.
Position incl. structure below
Will move every object below to the new manager, maintaining the existing structure below the position. This is the option most commonly used.
The position will now report to the new manager position in the hierarchy. It will be highlighted in yellow, indicating a change to the position.
